If we want to achieve the decarbonization goal for the entire group by 2040, in accordance with the provisions of the Paris Agreement - limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels - it is clear that we must invest directly in our own renewable energy production solutions.
The European Commission, through the new proposal for the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), considers that the large-scale implementation of solar energy in buildings will make a major contribution to more effectively protecting consumers from the continuously rising and volatile prices of fossil fuels, reducing the exposure of vulnerable citizens to high energy costs, and generating significant environmental, economic, and social benefits.
1,080 photovoltaic panels have already been installed on the approximately 4,000 square meters of rooftops of the buildings in YUNITY Park, so that it meets the nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Building) efficiency criteria as early as this year.
This is an essential first step towards transforming all the buildings in the company's portfolio into zero carbon emission buildings (ZEB) by 2030.
